Kodi avarai is the traditional climbing lablab bean, grown on a pandal for heavy harvests of tender pods. Packed by Sri Lakshmi Agro for home, terrace and kitchen gardens.

How to grow

How to sow Sow directly where it will grow
Depth 2–3 cm
Spacing One plant per 18 in grow bag, with a pandal
Germination 5–8 days
Harvest Pods from about 75–90 days; flowering is heaviest in the cooler months
Sunlight Full sun (6 hours or more)
Container 18 in grow bag with a pandal or trellis
Best season June–July and October–November

Growing tips

  • Use a light, well-draining mix, such as garden soil, cocopeat and vermicompost in equal parts.
  • Keep the soil moist but never waterlogged until the seeds sprout.
  • Water in the morning or evening, and feed with compost or organic manure every 2–3 weeks once the plants are growing.
  • Results depend on season, weather, soil and care.

Every product is checked and packed by Sri Lakshmi Agro in Chennai. Store seed packets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sow before the date on the pack. Keep fertilisers, manures and bio-inputs sealed after opening, and out of reach of children and pets.
