Ash gourd (neer poosanikai) is a large, long-keeping gourd for kootu, mor kuzhambu and juice. Packed by Sri Lakshmi Agro for home, terrace and kitchen gardens.

Good to know: On terraces with few bees, hand-pollinate in the morning: touch a male flower to the female flower (the one with a tiny fruit behind it).
Growing tips
- Use a light, well-draining mix, such as garden soil, cocopeat and vermicompost in equal parts.
- Keep the soil moist but never waterlogged until the seeds sprout.
- Water in the morning or evening, and feed with compost or organic manure every 2–3 weeks once the plants are growing.
- Results depend on season, weather, soil and care.
