Brussels Sprouts Seeds – Long Island Improved

Tiny cabbages that form along a tall stem. They need cool weather, so they do best in the hills (Ooty, Kodaikanal, Yercaud) or in the coolest winter months on the plains.

Why grow it

• Long harvest – pick sprouts from the bottom up over weeks.
• Compact variety – about 60 cm tall.
• Best in cool climates – ideal for hill gardens.

How to grow

1. Sow in a tray – Sow 1 cm deep; transplant at 5 weeks.
2. Grow cool – Needs cool weather to form sprouts – best in the hills or peak winter.
3. Feed well – Rich soil, compost every 2 weeks; stake tall plants.
4. Pick from the bottom – Twist off firm sprouts as they reach 2–4 cm.
