Canna lily rhizomes in red and yellow – bold tropical flowers on tall stems above big paddle leaves. Cannas love heat, sun and water and keep flowering through the warm months.

Planting guide

Depth	7–10 cm deep – Lay rhizomes flat with the eyes facing up.
Spacing	45–90 cm apart – Or one rhizome in a 14-inch pot.
Light	Full sun – Loves heat – also blooms by a warm, part-sun wall.
Water	Moist, rich soil – Water well and mix in plenty of compost.
Best months to plant	Feb – Sep

Step by step

Plant the rhizomes – 7–10 cm deep, eyes up, 45–90 cm apart in rich soil.
Sun & water – Full sun and steady moisture – cannas love heat and water.
Deadhead – Snip off faded flowers to keep new ones coming.
Divide clumps – After flowering, split crowded clumps – each piece needs an eye.

What to expect

Red & yellow flowers – Showy spikes above the leaves, one colour each.
Paddle leaves – Big tropical leaves all season.
Keeps on flowering – Remove faded blooms for more spikes.
