How to grow

1. Sow 1 cm deep – Sow in deep pots or beds in the cool months.
2. Thin out – Keep plants 30–45 cm apart.
3. Sun & food – Full sun; feed with compost every month.
4. Harvest seeds – Cut umbels when seeds turn greenish-brown; dry in shade.

Harvest tips

1. Fresh fronds – Snip leaves for cooking from 50 days.
2. Flower umbels – Become sombu seeds in 4–5 months.
3. Cut & dry – Cut ripe heads and dry them in shade.
