Rhinoceros Beetle Bucket Trap + Lure – Coconut

A bucket trap with rhinolure for the coconut rhinoceros beetle, which bores into the crown and young leaves of coconut palms. TNAU recommends one trap per hectare, about 5 ft above the ground.

How it works

1. Vanes – Beetles hit the vanes and drop into the bucket.
2. Lure on the lid – Rhinolure attracts both male and female beetles.
3. Side entries – Rough holes and ridges help beetles crawl in.
4. Deep bucket – Beetles can't climb back out.

Installation

Tips

1. Height – Fix the trap about 5 ft above the ground.
2. Shade the lure – Keep the lure out of direct sunlight.
3. Clean manure pits – Beetles breed in manure and rotting logs – keep them clean.
4. Empty often – Remove and destroy trapped beetles.
