How to grow

1. Surface sow – Sow on moist mix; cover very lightly – seeds need light.
2. Be patient – Sprouts in 2–3 weeks; keep the tray moist.
3. Transplant – Plant in a 12 inch pot of rich soil at 6–8 weeks.
4. Water well – Constant moisture gives crisp, juicy stalks.

Harvest tips

1. Cut outer stalks – Cut at the base as you need them.
2. Heart keeps growing – New stalks come from the centre.
3. Use the leaves too – Great for soups and chutneys.
