Details

German chamomile – small white daisies with golden centres, dried for a calming herbal tea. Quick and easy in the cool season.

How to grow

  1. Surface sow – Scatter on moist mix and press in – don't cover.
  2. Cool season – Grows best in the cool months; sprouts in 1–2 weeks.
  3. Thin out – Keep plants about 20 cm apart.
  4. Pick flowers – Pick flower heads when the petals open flat.

Harvest tips

  1. Pick open flowers – When the petals lie flat or just start to droop.
  2. More flowers follow – Picking every few days keeps them coming.
  3. Dry for tea – Dry the heads in shade for 1–2 weeks.
